One boat, two boat, but where is three boat? *IMPORTANT NEWS* And some fun gameplay!
about 3 years ago – Sat, Aug 14, 2021 at 06:54:27 PM

Hey everyone, we hope you are all doing well! For those of you in school or that have kids going back to school soon, we wish you all the best of luck! It's always a crazy time getting back in to it all, but fun as well.

We wanted to start off by giving you some updates on the boat shipments. The US boat actually somehow shipped much faster than it originally was supposed to, and should be arriving to ports in California within the next few days. The ports are pretty congested so it may take a bit to get through the ports, but we are looking at a much earlier delivery time to our warehouse in Utah than September 30th. We estimate 3-4 weeks from now, which puts us at the beginning to middle of September. The Australia boat also shipped soon after the US one, and should arrive to the Australian port within about a week. Those ports don't seem quite as busy as the US ports, and so we estimate it arriving to our warehouse there roughly the same time as the US one. For the UK boat, it has been delayed several times and still has not left the Chinese port. They have told us that the weather en route to the UK is pretty bad so they are waiting for the storm to pass. The estimated ship date is August 17th, meaning that the boat will probably arrive early September, and arrive to the warehouse late September. We apologize to all of our UK and European backers as your boat is just a bit behind the other boats.

IMPORTANT

We will be locking addresses within the next two weeks or so. We urge you all to check your address via backerkit.com and make sure they are correct. Remember that US and AU orders will be shipped out most likely during September, so if you're address will change before then you will want to update it. For UK backers, since yours will most likely be shipped to you end of September beginning of October, make sure to change if you will be moving before then. You will get an email when we lock the addresses with the address we have on file, so you will have one last chance at that point as well to change it. We will post another update before we send the "lock address" email.

Fun Gameplay Tips

On the racetrack Queen K's Cove, players will have several different paths that they can take. One path to the left of the Start Space are some spaces that start with "low tide" and "high tide". If a player decides to go on that path, they must roll a 12 sided dice. If they roll a 1-5 then it is low tide, and a 6-12 is high tide. In low tide, players must pass through every space, but in high tide they only have to pass through the 2 spaces shown above water. Once you make it past the spaces, you land on Treasure Island where you must stop all movement this turn and grab 6 coins, which equates to 2 points in the end. 2 points could potentially help you win over someone else, so the question is if you will decide to go to Treasure Island where you're forced to stop in exchange for coins, or go the normal route which typically ends up being quicker, getting you closer to coming in first in the race?

Let us know which part of Queen K's Cove you are most excited about? We cannot wait to get this game in to all your hands, and that time is getting closer and closer.

We wish you all the best,

-Wes, Zac, and Trent

Games on boats, and some more fun gameplay tips!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Jul 28, 2021 at 02:42:44 PM

Hey Everyone, we are back with some more good news! Looks like all of our games were picked up successfully and were loaded in to boats. The estimated delivery dates to our warehouses are August 24th to Australia, September 13th to UK, and September 30th to US. Granted these are just estimates as the games could arrive sooner or later than these dates. After these delivery dates, it could take another week or two to get all of the games shipped to you guys! We're just glad to finally be seeing some movement on these, but we do still have just a bit longer for final delivery!

Now for some more fun gameplay tips :) Today we will be discussing movement cards!

Each turn players will have 2 movement cards in their hand. Each person will only pick 1 of the two cards, and place the other card at the bottom of their movement decks which will allow that card to come up again in a future round.

Each card also has two sections, one for lap 1 and one for lap 2. Depending on which lap of the race you are on, you will only use that section of the card. The 2 sections of each card typically vary in speed and actions, making for some fun decisions of when to use each card.

On each card there may also be actions, also known as abilities, such as Throw Cat on the card above. Abilities are activated and resolved before the movement happens. These can either help you or hinder another player. Each set of movement cards are unique to each racer, and specialize in different aspects of the game such as speed, attack, or gathering coins.

We can't wait to see which characters you guys enjoy most! Let us know which racer you think the above example is from? (Redbane, Queen K, Goat Lorde, Lightning N Thunda, Sonico, or Fabio)

Sincerely,

Wes, Zac, and Trent

Games being picked up! (and some fun gameplay tips)
over 3 years ago – Tue, Jul 20, 2021 at 11:49:06 AM

Hey everyone, we are excited to share that we are approaching a big step in the fulfillment process! Right now our manufacturer is packing all of the copies of Racekart Riot and the Expansions in to cases to be sent overseas. We have already booked space on 3 different boats and they are eagerly awaiting the moment our manufacturer yells, "WE'RE DONE!". They should be loaded in to the boats within the next week.

We have 3 different fulfillment centers that we will be working with. One here in Utah, United States, which will cover all of the North and South America orders. One in the UK, which will cover all of the UK orders and all of Europe and surrounding countries. Do not worry though, we will be covering all VAT fees on these orders so that you won't have pay them. And the last one will be in Australia which will cover Australia, New Zealand, and Asian countries. We will post more updates as the games arrive at the fulfillment centers.

On a side note, from now until the games arrive in your hands we wanted to post some rules and fun tips to get you all more familiar with the game, which leads us to our first tip: Kart Parts.

There are 3 different kinds of Kart parts: Bumper, Chassis, and Caboose. Within those parts, there are multiple styles such as Basic, Dragon, Hover, etc. On each card there are points that the card is worth, but by getting a complete set you get additional points. The complete set DOES NOT need to be of the same style, but if it is it will give you extra points, see below. In the example above, you would score 7 points (shown on the cards) plus 3 points for a complete set NOT of the same style.

The strategy comes from deciding when you want to lock in a kart. When you lock a kart, you place all three cards face down in a used pile for scoring later. If you don't lock a kart, those parts could get stolen from the other players, if they have a card/action that lets them do so. In Racekart Riot, even those extra 3 points can make the difference of winning or not, so will you take a risk and try to hold out for the complete set? Or will you lock it in early for guaranteed points?

And that's it for today's Tip! Is there any part of the gameplay that you would like to know more about, or that you would like to learn some tips for? Let us know in the comments and we'll make sure to cover them in the upcoming weeks!

Everything is now in production, and timelines!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Jun 29, 2021 at 03:17:31 AM

Hey all you awesome peeps, we wanted to apologize for the delays in posting updates. Things have been much slower than expected, mixed with a lot of events and conferences here in Utah, but we are here to tell you all that things are rolling!

Our miniatures took a little longer to perfect with color and material, but they are now finally in production. The colors of these racers looks so good, and the material is also great! This picture can't even do justice on how cool the details of these racers look. Not only are the minis in production, but all other components are being manufactured as well. We expect the games to be done, as well as the upgraded Dungeon Royale boxes, in the next 3-4 weeks, after which shipping to our warehouses will begin.

This is a big project, and we have poured hours and hours in to it to make sure that components, gameplay, and the rulebook are as perfect as they can be and we can't wait for you all to play it!

Now for the not so fun news. As many of you have already heard via other Kickstarter campaigns or elsewhere, shipping is very delayed and it is possible that it only gets worse from here on out. Boats are taking double the amount of time that they used to. Fast boats that were taking 15 days from port to port are now taking 30 days, and boats that were taking 30 days are now taking around 60 days. Upon arrival, it is taking another 30 days or so to arrive in warehouses because customs inspections are delayed as well. So to give realistic timelines, we are looking at starting shipping at the end of July and the games arriving in warehouses potentially at the end of October or beginning of November. If it gets here quicker great, and we'll do everything we can do get them here sooner, but this is pretty realistic at this point.

IF you will be moving before then, please go to www.backerkit.com, log in to your account, and update your address. We have not locked addresses yet due to delays, so you still have time to update addresses.

On a fun note, for our events in Utah we turned our company truck in to a Goat! Pretty crazy huh? What does it remind you all of?

We will be trying to post much more from here on out as we get closer to release, so stay tuned! Thanks everyone, and let us know if you have any questions!

Sincerely,

The Gatwick Games Team

Manufacturing Update
over 3 years ago – Fri, May 21, 2021 at 08:36:51 PM

Hi everyone, we hope you're all doing well and that you are getting as excited as we are for Racekart Riot! We wanted to check back in to give you all an update today! In this update we want to explain how the slow but sure progress is going.

First of all, see the below image for the first sample of final miniatures. These are not painted yet, but are the final material. In regards to the miniatures, our manufacture said that the molds still have some imperfections that they are working through so the miniatures have yet to begin final production.

The game itself had needed some changes that we sent to our manufacturer back around the same time as our last update about the sample, and it has taken them a long time to update the corrections. We will be receiving the final sample soon before final production begins, which should be within 1-2 weeks.

Unfortunately, our manufacture stated that they had a huge system overhaul and their new system has had issues that has bogged it down to the point of delaying projects, including ours. We had originally stated a June shipping timeframe for you all, but it is looking like it will be July/August actually, especially with how shipping is going as well.

We are working every night with our manufacture to expedite the process as soon as possible, and we will be posting another update within the few weeks as we finally get in to final production. Let us know if you have any questions, but we are getting close everyone, and cannot wait for the race to begin :)

^^^This is the what are doing with the "snail" like progress - turning it in to a speedy snail.  LET'S GOOOOO!!!

Sincerely,

Wes, Zac, and Trent
